Ah Hello ZL (author or ZxR fic I mentioned in the previous post) Thank you for coming to this humble, filled with rabid fangirlsm-blog of mine. XD

Ahh, about the fic characterization, I think it's up to whoever see/read it. I think it's about the views on the respective readers/authors on the characters themselves! So I don't think I'm right or you're wrong either.

I'm not good at detailed reviewing and I often misinformed... XD

If this helps any, I can tell you my views on Robin! But... if it's wrong, then feel free to kick me on the head, I deserve it. ^ ^; I can give you my thoughts on Zoro too, but I don't think many people will agree with me in any way so let it be Robin since I'm a rabid fangirl of her. XD And maybe you know more of Zoro more than I do.

Keep in mind that I am not exactly fluent in English and often doesn't make any sense. ^ ^;

-My thoughts on Nico Robin- Spoiler ensue.

From what I see since her [bias]enigmatic[/bias] first appearance on chapter 114 (page 109 of book 13), she's a mysterious character and later on, I see her as a woman that pretty much knows what she's doing.

She hid her secrets without even trying, and I think that's her nature. It's like "if no one is asking, she'll be quiet and when someone asks her, she just smiles (or give vague but true answer) " - kind of woman.

Aside from the general view... here are my opinions/thoughts on her personality (or at least, trying to analyze)

Being the most mature character (age-wise, personality-wise) in the crew, I think she has many experiences... adventure-wise or knowledge-wise... since, as far as I know she began her adventure roughly at 8... Of course, that'll give Nico Robin a plenty of time to grow.

As far as the loneliness goes, she may felt lonely but considering she had been alone for years (....well technically she had never been alone 'cause she had been working for various 'villains' from time to time but you get my idea.) she eventually overcame it and got used to it... and it looked like she didn't mind at all. For me, she looked pretty confident most of the time. The reason? I think one of the reasons is because she depended on no one but herself (or maybe I'm delusional -snerks- ) given that only herself that knows her job... and maybe with some little denial included .. who knows? It's her hope to find what she had been searching for and she couldn't afford little feelings got in her way.

That is, until chapter 218 revealed a flashback when she thought her efforts had come into an end and she gave up. Either she had been thinking about her 'tiring life' and came into conclusion that 'This is it', OR she just realized that her efforts were only a waste after all these time, plus her 'hope' was crushed; her denials came onto the surface and hit her. Hard.

And that's when I saw Miss All-Sunday; a.k.a Nico Robin showed us her true insecure form.

(and the only ones who witnessed this only Luffy and King Cobra... dammit she even told Luffy to leave her to death. But good thing he didn't listen!)

But apparently, she's quick to recover from such thing. On chapter 217 when she joined Luffy's crew, we can see her being her usual self again. Only that she didn't completely forget and use the 'saving scene' as the reason to stay in Luffy's (which worked). I think there's more into her reasoning... Where else she could go? She has no real place to stay, maybe no home to go back to and no real friends. So she took the advantage.

I don't think she planned to stay in Luffy's for long.. you know, like a passenger or something... but I'd like to think she has changed her mind.

After she joined, we can see she's amused and seemed to enjoy Luffy and the others' company most of the time. Maybe it's because she has a control around herself, being the oldest and has the most mature personality of the crew. More or less, I think she can predict the crew's reactions from her own experiences. Of course, it changed as the time went by after few big events in Sky Piea and all. (There’s no exactly 'normal' or 'average' guy/girl in Going Merry.)

Though she said that she doesn't care about others (ie. the Crocodile case) , but it's apparent that she cares about her newfound friends in more ways than one. She doesn't hide it, but doesn't blatantly show it either. I think that's one of her charm: She doesn't, or dare I say NEVER pretend. So there's nothing exactly wrong or right with her (bah, ambiguity)

Back to her insecureness/feelings... like I have stated above, she might feels it but it seems that she doesn't really think too much about it. She has priorities in her life. Of course in quiet moments she may think about that but I don't think she'll let herself down and be open for her own insecureness. She's an elegant lady (ogodimsobiasedexdee)... Scratch that. I mean, she has a matured personality (being 28... XD god bias bias bias) and I think she should have quite a control over herself. And besides, she always use her *omgbiased* enigmatic charm... not for hiding her true self but because it IS her true self that have grown.

And now it's about.... *DUN DUN DUNNN* omgsex. If she's a virgin, I will never ever believe it. She may have many men with her (or few. I prefer the few one though... (ace!) But who'll believe me when they see her Miss All-Sunday outfit? It's a fashion sense, not whorish dammit! *shakes fists some local Indonesian fans*) I guess, seeing from how she worked, no long-term relationship present. But who knows? I just think it's unlikely to have long-term relationship (or long enough to have crush) when you work with various people. But there are some possiblities.

I judge her sexual desire based on her personality (and yes, I'm a simple-minded fangirl) that she definitely has control on them. If she can control her feelings, how hard it is to control her bodily desires (?) I know that if you have a lot things in mind, sex can be forgotten. Maybe a play or two, but it's not exactly an important need. I have things to say more but I don't know how to explain this further without me being embarrassed (Geh, not used to talk about this subject openly... *snerks*)

Again, I must remind you the readers that it's just my opinion.

Now we talk about her social skill. I quote myself up there : It's like "if no one is asking, she'll be quiet and when someone asks her, she’ll just smile (or give vague but true answer) "- kind of woman. The kind that will answer when it's needed, and not much of a person that will initiate a conversation. Ah, she did start a real conversation four times as far as I can tell. Twice with Zoro (when she joined and when Going Merry arrived at SkyPiea), once when she encountered Going merry before going to the Little garden and the last once was with King Cobra. (Things with Croc doesn’t count as it was mostly business matters, and small chats doesn’t count too. Correct me if I’m wrong.)

She’s pretty much a calm person even if she’s posed into a danger. She's a mature person, and the kind that vaguely knows about most small things and will keep them to herself unless it's really needed, then she goes to find the bolder facts in her own way. She's kinda, down-to earth person.

I think this concludes my thoughts. I think I have more but I’m never good with words (see, repetitive contents). I know I made some mistakes here and there, so forgive me please. And if you’re disagree, please tell. If there’s anything offensive, please tell and I apologize. XD

So, ZL, don't worry too much about it. I think it's a matter on our views on the characters themselves. My views are like that above, so that explains why I find your characterization doesn't feel 'right' to me. =) Besides, I'm too simple minded ^_^;

The author said it's the third part of three, but I never find the first part... hmmm -curious-
